Equivalised income
At a glance
Equivalised income is your family income divided by the scale of your family. The first parent counts as 1, the second as 1/2 and each child as 1/4. OPEKA, the welfare agency, uses it to decide child benefit.
A family with two parents and two children has a scale of 2. With an income of €18,000, its equivalised income is €9,000.
In a single-parent family, the first child counts as 1/2, like a second parent.
Legal basis: Law 4512/2018, article 214 (ν. 4512/2018, άρθρο 214).
