How we calculate it
Each fuel has a reference amount. That amount times the coefficient of your area gives the allowance.
In a cold area the amount rises 25% from a coefficient of 1, and 50% from 1.2. The joint ministerial decision gives two rises of 25%, and the tool adds them, as the maximum amounts show.
Each dependent child adds 20%. The tool puts the 20% on the amount after the coefficient. The joint ministerial decision does not say so explicitly.
Each amount comes from the 2025 joint ministerial decision, raised by 30%, as the ministries announced for winter 2026/27.
The allowance does not fall below €130.00. It does not go over €1,040.00, or €1,300.00 with a coefficient of 1, or €1,560.00 with a coefficient of 1.2.
We checked the rules on 19 October 2026. The result is an estimate. It does not replace your payroll or your accountant.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find the coefficient of my area?
The SO-M coefficient stands in the annex of the joint ministerial decision, for each municipal unit. EMY, the national weather service, works it out from the heating days. Cold areas have a coefficient above 1.
Who gets the heating allowance?
Households with an income up to €16,000.00 for a single person, €24,000.00 for a couple and €29,000.00 for a single-parent family, plus €5,000.00 for each child. Property has a limit too.
What fuel purchases do you need?
Your fuel purchases must be at least twice the allowance, with receipts. If they are less, the allowance is 50% of your purchases.
What applies for winter 2026/27?
On 14 October 2026 the ministries announced a 30% rise in every amount, with the same criteria. The maximum becomes €1,560.00. The tool shows the amounts of the 2025 joint ministerial decision with the rise. The decision for the new winter is not out yet.

Applications open by 10 November 2026. The advance, also 30% higher, is paid by 23 December 2026.
