Gross salary
At a glance
Gross pay is the amount in your employment contract, before any deductions. Contributions and tax withholding come off it, leaving your net pay.
Gross pay is the language of employers. A job advert, a contract and a collective agreement always speak in gross. The 2026 minimum wage of €920 is gross too.
From gross to net
From your gross pay, your employer keeps back your contributions to e-EFKA, 13.37%. From the rest it keeps back the tax on your salary. What is left is your net pay, the amount in your account.
Your employer also pays its own contributions, 21.79% on top of your gross pay. These do not show on your payslip, but they count in the cost of the job.
