Holiday allowance
At a glance
The holiday allowance equals the pay for your days of annual leave, up to half a salary or 13 days of pay. Your employer pays it when your leave starts.
With a full year of leave, the allowance is almost always half a salary. In your first year in a job it is smaller, because leave builds up at 2 days for each month.
Together with the bonuses
The two bonuses and the holiday allowance add up to about two salaries. That is why a private-sector employee in Greece says they get 14 salaries a year.
Legal basis: Presidential Decree 62/2025, article 223 (Π.Δ. 62/2025, άρθρο 223).
