From 1 January 2026, the 1st insurance category costs €250.77 a month, for pension and health cover.
The self-employed, sole traders and freelancers who issue service invoices.
The amounts cover pension and health together. The contribution to DYPA, the public employment service, comes on top.
You choose your own category. For the first 5 years, the special category for new entrants applies.
Contributions lower the taxable income from your freelance work.
